As this is my very first ever blog and post, you will forgive any faux pas on my part. I figured i would start by sharing how Scott and I met and how our story began. After all, the beginning IS a very good place to start!
In the spring of 2007 a friend of mine talked me into joining LDS mingle, a mostly LDS dating and networking site. I had tried the online thing before without much luck, but figured it couldnt hurt. I met a lot of really cool people from all over the valley that would often get together for parties and such. Meanwhile, Scott had recently become active in the church again and joined the site hoping to meet some singles in his area in Virginia. Two days later he saw my profile and noticed that i had served a mission in Slovenija. He knew a friend in school from yugoslavia and sent me a "Kako ste?" message. although he was far away and i wasnt really interested in the long distance thing, the slovene attempt caught my attention. We started emailing and then talking on the phone. A few weeks later he came to utah to visit. our first date was a funeral of an old family friend of mine. (how romantic, huh?) He was so thoughtful and respectful and i was instantly comfortable just being my goofy self with him.
Although scott knew right away that we were meant to be together, it took me a while. After a few more visits, scott moved to utah in January 2008. Without the long distance we were able to get to know each other even better and in march he proposed! He inherited a 1939 mine cut diamond that his grandfather had sold his car to purchase when he proposed to his grandmother. i have since "inherited" the diamond and its history is such a sweet reminder or just how romantic scott is.
We had planned to marry in september when scott would be able to go to the tmeple. However, after much prayer and fasting, we both decided that we should be married sooner. so on may 21, 2008 we married at the Bungalow. its an old european like cottage with amazing gardens. we had our family and a few close friends present for the ceremony then had an intimate reception. it was so perfect, despite the rain!
As i look back now to the 29 years i spent searching and preparing and planning for that day, i have to admit that the marriage part is so much more fun than the wedding! Im so grateful for all the waiting and heartbreaks and prayers that led me to find my scottie. never could i have imagined the blessings and miracles the Lord had in store for me all those nights i spent on my knees pleading for direction and answers. It all makes perfect sense now!

Yes! Exactly! Being married is infinitely more fun than getting married (and that perspective ahead of time can save a bride so much money and stress). I'm so glad you guys are doing it right and having such a great time at it!
